▪Identity & Heritage
Prince Tosin's identity and worldview are shaped by the cultural
and historical foundations of Ijebu Ode, the traditional seat of
Ijebu authority and a central pillar of Yoruba civilization.
He is a four-times great-grandson of Awujale Adesimbo
Tunwase (Aboki), the 47th Awujale of Ijebuland. This heritage carries
defined obligations centered on stewardship, institutional continuity,
and accountability to the people.
Prince Tosin approaches this inheritance with discipline and
restraint, treating lineage as responsibility rather than entitlement.
As a member of Egbe Bobamayegun
Okunrin Asiwaju Akile Ijebu, he reflects active participation
in Ijebu civic life, cultural continuity, and community responsibility.
❝Our ancestors built a trading empire with the tools of their time. Now it is our turn. Artificial Intelligence (AI), blockchain, renewable energy, agritech, digital finance—these are the tools of this era. The question is whether Ijebu will wield them or be left behind.❞
— Prince Tosin Osunsanya▪Identity & Heritage
Oba Adesimbo Tunwase, also known as Aboki, reigned as Awujale of Ijebu from 1886 to 1895. He is remembered as a revered and influential ruler whose leadership shaped a pivotal period in Ijebu history. During his reign, Oba Adesimbo Tunwase engaged directly with British colonial authorities and signed a treaty following the Imagbon War of 1892.
He governed with an uncommon spirit of religious tolerance and openness. He welcomed Christian missionaries into his palace, permitted the preaching of Christianity in Ijebuland, and allowed some of his own children to be baptized. He also demonstrated strong support for Islam by granting land at Eti-Itale for the construction of the first central mosque in Ijebu and by providing land for annual Eid prayers.
